When a dog is chasing you, will using dog mace on it stop the dog in its tracks or make it more angry?
I’ve been nearly attacked on many occasions by vicious dogs, and so I’ve grown up to be petrified of all dogs – big or small, calm or energetic.
I recently saw “dog mace” at a running store which is meant for protection in an attack/chase, but I’m apprehensive about ever using it if needing it because I’ve been told it may not work, and make a dog even angrier.
Does anybody know if dog mace works or not? What is the deciding factor of whether it works (ie size, nature, quantity)?
I don’t see why mace wouldn’t work. When I was about 12, I put a can of spray paint in the bottle holder on my bicycle in order to deal with a pack of dogs. It worked rather well although looking back, I don’t know if it permanently injured the animals or not.
